Hazelwood Gardens is our private home, while also being a working farm. We hope to share our adventures with you through images and videos on social media, but we do not allow visitors: this would require staffing and facilities which we do not have. The dogs on this page look sweet and cuddly, however they are indeed working guardian dogs. They fiercely protect their family furry, feathered or human. They patrol the property and for that reason, and for our family's privacy as well, we do not allow farm visits unless otherwise organized for a class or other event.

Yes, we ship across Canada! For items up to 10lbs that fit in a prepaid Canada Post box, shipping is $23. For anything else, we’ll work out the details with you.

No, we’re not certified organic. But here’s the scoop: our land has been chemical-free since at least 1970, thanks to over 50 years of organic farming practices. Certification involves a lot of paperwork and costs, which we’ve chosen to skip. Instead, we focus on what matters—growing the best, healthiest food for our family and yours. Our community knows us for our commitment to sustainable and organic practices.

We named it Hazelwood Gardens because of our nut grove—nearly 4,000 hazelnut trees we started planting in 2019. It’s a nod to our roots and what we grow!

No we do not. We produce vegetables mainly for our family, which is large, but we do generally have extra every week. Thus we post what we have up for grabs, generally on Instagram and Facebook.

GARLIC, lots of garlic , 81 different kinds. We have a lot of young hazel nut trees. However they are not producing quite yet. Not in large quantities at least. We have all kinds of nut trees, whatever had a chance to survive our zoning has been planted: Heartnuts, buartnuts, northern pecan, hybrid chestnuts, russian almonds, carpathian walnuts ( european /store type walnuts)....and I am probably forgetting some. We have fruit trees: apples, cherries, pears, quince, persimmon, plums, hascaps, blueberries, pawpaws, gojis, seabuckthorn, elderberry, saskatoons, peaches, nectarines, apricots....and, again, I am forgetting more. We have a few hundred grape vines, mostly table type, hop vines, kiwis, raspberries of every colour ( red, black, blue, purple, yellow...) and blackberries... We currently have one large greenhouse in which we grow lots of our vegetables and another going up in 2023, hopefully. We grow asparagus, horseradish and rhubarb. And every kind of edible plant we can find. We forage all kinds of wild plants and mushrooms. We are currently experimenting with indoor growing during the Winter moths and, thus, have microgreens and sprouts as well as hydroponic and aquaponic greens during the off Season. We also grow flowers, lots and lots of beautiful flowers. We grow all of our own meats too.

We raise cows, pigs, birds ( chickens , turkeys, ducks, geese, quail, guinea fowl), sheep, goats and rabbits. We keep on the farm 1 quarter horse, 2 donkeys, horses, cats, 2 cockatiels and a hamster.

If you are picking up an order, it's by appointment only. We will ask you to text us when you arrive at the gates. We also have a convenient pick up in Vankleek Hill located on main street ( at the old National Bank) that is open 8am-12 pm and 1-4 pm Monday through Thursday. Deliveries can sometimes be arranged for the Alexandria, Maxville, Vankleek areas. And most weeks along the 417 to Ottawa and to Aylmer Qc.

Yes ! We ship anywhere in Canada. We will ship most items but not all. Shipping is at buyer's cost and risk. We offer a convenient prepaid Post Canada box for up to 10lbs at a cost of 23$ Other options can be available , but please contact ahead.

Our checkout works a bit differently! Since many of our products are unique, we like to chat with you first about delivery, availability, and other details. It keeps things simple and personalized for everyone.

We breed our livestock. We do have kittens available occasionally and we are hoping to breed our Maremma Livestock Guardians once. Our cats and dogs ( other than the LGDs) are fixed. But as we occasionally find cats, they may be pregnant, which means we may have kittens once in a while. After the shelters could no longer accept cats post COVID, we found many abandoned cats and thus had kittens.

Yes we do! We generally smoke the bones to kill off any pathogens. We usually carry beef, sheep/lamb and hog.

No. Ontario law does not permit farmers to sell or give meat that was killed on farm and not in an abattoir. We do not send our animals to an abattoir. We slaughter on farm so that our animals do not have to be transported, kept with other animals and scared. They are born on our farm, they grow on our farm and they get harvested right here on the farm. We believe it's the most ethical way, the safest and the least stressful for our animals. We look forward to a time where adult citizens are able to make a choice to have a relationship with their farmer and choose the meats that best meet their needs and criteria. However we aren't there yet. Write to your MPs, let your regional governments know how you feel: adult citizens should be allowed to make their own informed choice about what to put in their mouths to nourish their bodies.

Yes we do. We mainly have plant starts in the Spring. We have cuttings and organize group purchases and have some nut trees for sale. We also have a vast collection of tropicals indoor plants, and , from time to time, we post those for sale. We also offer specific plant starts to our local or regular customers. As such, we'll start a specific variety of tomato, eggplant, etc if requested.
